In the last month, the EPFO had launched the facility of linking Aadhaar with universal account number, through Umang mobile app. “EPFO has introduced UAN-Aadhaar linking facility for the convenience of members using EPFO link in UMANG app,” it said in a statement. The new facility is in addition to the existing one on the EPFO website. The facility on e-KYC portal has added a new feature to link UAN with Aadhaar online using biometric credentials.
In 2017, the EPFO embarked on a digital journey with an eye on providing almost all services on smartphones -- ranging from PF withdrawal to submission of life certificate by pensioners. As per details available, of the 4.6 crore contributing members, as many as 2.75 crore have seeded their Aadhaar with their PF accounts. However, out of the 2.75 crore numbers, 1.25 crore Aadhaar numbers have been verified, a report by PTI said. The EPFO has a mandate to verify all Aadhaar-seeded PF accounts for the switch to AEPS, which is seen to completely change the experience and efficiency of services for the better.
