Hordes of farmers headed towards the city at the start of this week to make their demands known and to make sure they are attended by the authorities. Covering a distance of 180 kilometers on foot, bracing the heat is a laborious task. A sea of almost 50,000 had come to the city and it did not leave the city to a standstill, such was the efficiency in which they carried out the march. While they had to take care of their food and accommodation in the week-long march, another problem they would have was keeping their phone batteries charged. But they had a solution on their heads! Yes, some farmers carried tablet-sized solar panels on their heads, with which they could charge their phones. Nathu Udar, a 48-year old protestor was one of the solar panel carriers. "I got this panel for my house but when we decided to come here, I thought I should install this on my head, so that I can charge the panels and use it to charge farmers' phones," he told News18. He helped other farmers to charge their phones too. While they walked in the heat, the solar panels did capture the heat which was well utilized. Even charging their phones for half an hour could let them use the phones for about 2 hours later. And one panel could charge at least 4-5 phones at a time!

The Kisan Long March can be called a classic of its kind example for depicting a protest march, which the country has seen in utter chaos in the past. The sheer thoughtfulness shown by each and every one to get their demands known and accepted, is something we all should learn at large. Mumbaikars also cooperated and supported by offering basics- food and water during the march. The government gave them a written statement of accepting their demands.
