Karnataka State First Cabinet Expansion to Take Place Tomorrow at 2 PM, Says HD Kumaraswamy

Kumaraswamy denied that there is an internal rift among his party MLAs after rumours were doing round, that his partymen are unhappy with Congress-JD(S) coalition.

Mumbai, June 5: The Karnataka state's cabinet expansion will take place tomorrow at 2 pm, June 6 after a lot of delay. The State Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara confirmed about expansion while speaking to news reporters today at Bengaluru. Furthermore, CM HD Kumaraswamy also told the media that around eight to nine MLAs from his party Janata Dal (Secular) will be inducted in the first cabinet expansion, swearing in programme.

Moreover, Kumaraswamy also denied that there is an internal rift among his party MLAs after rumours were doing rounds, that his partymen were unhappy with Congress-JD(S) coalition. Kumaraswamy was quoted as saying, "On Tuesday, we had a meeting with our MLAs. Our national president advised all MLAs to cooperate with the cabinet for developing the state and providing good governance."

Reportedly, Congress and JD(S) inked the power-sharing agreement on June 1, in which Congress was allocated 22 ministerial berths and JD(S) 12 portfolios. Congress will get home, irrigation, health, agriculture and women child welfare ministries, while JD(S) is to get finance and excise, public works department, education, tourism and transport ministries.

In addition to this, both parties have also agreed to set-up coordination and monitoring committee to oversee the smooth functioning of the coalition. The committee will be led by senior Congress leader and former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, while JD(S) Danish Ali will work as its convener.
