Mumbai, April 29: There is some good news for job aspirants and employment data. Reliance Industries Limited owned digital venture and Mukesh Ambani's biggest ever telecom bet- Reliance Jio is planning to employ or recruit around 75,000 to 80,000 people this financial year. This was confirmed by a senior company official. Jio's Chief Human Resource Officer Sanjay Jog, while talking to reporters on the sidelines of an event, informed reporters about this possible development. Sanjay Jog was present for an event organised by the Society of Human Resources Management.
A question was raised by reporters as to how many jobs would be created or recruitment made by the company in this financial year. Responding to the query, Jog said that about 80,000 would be made available for people in Jio. Talking about attrition rate in the company, Jog elaborated that it is near 32 per cent in the sales department and technical areas concerning construction sites. Jog was quoted saying by news agency PTI that, "If it is taken at the headquarter level, it is just 2 per cent. Average if you go it will come down to 18 per cent."
Jog went on to claim that they (Reliance) are in a partnership with around 6,000 colleges which includes technical institutes, from all over the country. Jog informed that these colleges and institutes comprise of courses which ensure that students who pass the courses are "Reliance Ready"- a term meaning a select group of freshers ready with the technical know-how required for the business.
He also said that hiring would be done through referrals and social media as well. Recruitments through referrals now account for about 60 per cent to 70 per cent of the hiring, he said and added that college and employees referrals are the two major contributors to Jio's hiring plans.
