Ranchi, May 2: Maoists have unleashed barbarity and beheaded a man on the outskirts of Jharkhand's capital Ranchi after accusing him of being a police spy. The man who has been beheaded has been identified as Abraham Tigga. According to the police, the guerrillas chopped off Abraham Tigga's head. A resident of Ubasaal village, Tigga was abducted late on Tuesday while on his way home from the market. He was first beaten up and later beheaded.
The Maoists then set a vehicle on fire in Tamar. The police on Wednesday took possession of the body and sent it for autopsy. Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
Recently, on April 24 in Maharashtra's Gadchiroli, in a second gunfight with Maoists, the crack commandos of C-60 force ended up killing six more naxal militants. The site of ambush was located nearly 60-km away from Tadgaon, where scores of Maoists were killed on April 22. While 15 were confirmed to be killed in the encounter on Sunday, April 22, the death toll further climbed as 16 more bodies were recovered on April 24.
The bodies were found floating on the Indravati river in the early hours of the day, the SP said. "The collective toll of both encounters has reached 37," another official added, describing it as the most severe setback to the Maoists in the past few years.
