Mumbai, June 16: Jet Airways has revised its baggage policies for passengers starting travel from July 15. As per the new policy, passengers travelling on a domestic flight economy class will be allowed to carry only one bag as check-in baggage weighing 15 kgs or less for free. Those travelling in the business or premiere class will be allowed to carry two bags, each not weighing more than 30 kgs without any cost. Jet privilege class customers can carry two bags, each weighing 15 kg or less.

The new rules will not be applicable on those who have booked their tickets before June 15. A communique has been sent by Jet Airways to travel operators across the country informing them about the new one-bag policy.

Currently, a passenger travelling in economy on a domestic flight of Jet Airways is allowed 15 kg free baggage allowance. However, there are no restrictions on the number of bags that can be checked in.

The airline says that the new policy will help speed up the travel time and begin the return journey faster.

This is the first time an airline in India is implementing a ‘one-baggage’ policy. The rule is followed by several international airlines. The concept of baggage policy on the basis of number of bags is popular in the US and Canada.
