Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir plunged into darkness after heavy rain and storm lashed the district this morning. Reports inform that a fresh Western Disturbance is seen over North Afghanistan and adjoining areas.
Jammu, May 2: Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing light rainfall and will continue to brace the same weather from May 3 to 06, a prediction by the Jammu and Kashmir meteorological department on Wednesday said. Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir plunged into darkness after heavy rain and storm lashed the district this morning. Reports inform that a fresh Western Disturbance is seen over North Afghanistan and adjoining areas.
Reports inform that the day temperatures of Jammu and Kashmir are reported to be above normal by four to six degrees while that of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand is above normal temperatures. According to a release by the IMD, under the influence of above systems, scattered to widespread rainfall/thunderstorm activity very likely over east and northeast India during next 3-4 days.

Meanwhile, a report by Skymet Weather states that a fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir, and an induced cyclonic circulation is over Central Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan. Also, a trough from this system is extending up to East Uttar Pradesh.
Due to the current change in temperatures, a light to moderate rain and thundershowers to commence over the Western Himalayas from evening of May 2. The weather report states that dust storm and thundershower activities are also expected over Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, North Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh.
