Chandigarh, June 6: Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court in Chandigarh has awarded ten years of imprisonment to five people including a former Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and a former Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Border Security Force (BSF) who were convicted in Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal of 2006. The court has acquitted Businessman Mehrajuddin Malik and the then Additional Advocate General of Jammu and Kashmir Anil Seth.
Former BSF DIG KS Padhi, former DSP Mohammad Ashraf Mir and three locals were proved guilty of rape. The sex scandal was exposed in Srinagar in 2006 when a pornographic CD involving a 15-year-old was handed over to the police. Many VVIP’s were involved in this flesh trade racket. Hilal Ahmed Shah Sabina and her husband Abdul Hamid were prime accused in the case for trafficking girls for prostitution. The couple died of a natural cause before the case was solved.
According to a report published in Hindustan Times, during police interrogation, Sabina disclosed names of 56 officials. The then chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah also resigned in 2009 after his name was dragged into the case.
