Jammu and Kashmir Sex Scandal: Former DSP And DIG Among Five Held Guilty By CBI Court
The CBI court on Wednesday declared its judgment in the 12-year-old Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal.
Srinagar, May 30: The CBI court on Wednesday declared its judgment in the 12-year-old Jammu and Kashmir sex scandal. The court held five accused, including former DIG and DSP, guilty of rape, while two persons were acquitted in the case. The court will pronounce the quantum of sentence on June 4.
According to a report published in Hindustan Times, former BSF deputy inspector general KS Padhi, former deputy superintendent of police Mohammad Ashraf Mir, and three locals, namely, Shabbir Ahmed Laway, Shabbir Ahmed Langhoo and Masud Ahmed have been held guilty. The court has acquitted a former additional advocate general of Jammu and Kashmir Anil Sethi and Mehraj ud din Malik.
The sex scandal was exposed in Srinagar in 2006, after a pornographic CD involving a 15-year-old was handed over to the police. VVIP’s in the states were involved in the flesh trade racket. According to the report, the police questioned the two girls and the alleged kingpin, Sabeena. During police interrogation names of 56 people discovered which were believed to be involved in the racket.
The police also booked Sabeena and her husband Abdul Hamid Bullah. Both were running a brothel. The couple died of a natural cause before the case was solved. The then chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir Omar Abdullah also resigned in 2009 after he was accused of his involvement in the case.
