Kupwara, May 19: The security forces have killed four terrorists in Handwara area of Kupwara district in Jammu and Kashmir in an encounter which started yesterday. The terrorists were trying to infiltrate in to the Indian side along the Line of Control (LoC) on Friday.
The gunbattle between the security forces and the terrorists began during the search operation in the area. The security forces carried out the operation after noticing the suspicious movement of the terrorists along the LoC. It is a major breakthrough for the troops in the valley. The encounter is still underway.

The encounter took place during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir. The Prime Minister Today kickstarted the work of Asia's longest Zojila Tunnel today. The tunnel would help in connecting the region with the rest of the country. The Prime Minister also dedicated the state-run NHPC’s Kishanganga hydro power project in Jammu and Kashmir to the nation.
Yesterday, one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was martyred in the ceasefire violation in Kupwara district. It is important to note that the Centre has asked the security forces not to carry out operations in the month of Ramzam, however, forces have given the right to retaliate if they are attacked by the terrorists or to save the lives of innocent people.
