Jammu and Kashmir: 2 Injured in Grenade Blast in Chhatabal Area of Srinagar
Two civilians were injured after a grenade blast in Chhatabal area of Srinagar's on Wednesday afternoon.
Srinagar, May 16: Two civilians were injured in a grenade blast in Chhatabal area of Srinagar's on Wednesday afternoon. The blast occurred near Pincho Mandi of Chhatabal. The entire area has been cordoned off and security forces are verifying the nature of the blast. The injured were shifted to Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital of Srinagar. Earlier in the day, security forces launched a search operation in the forest area of Tral in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir following a brief exchange of firing with terrorists.
The grenade attack took place on the day when the Centre asked security forces not to launch operations in Jammu and Kashmir during the month of Ramzan. However, the security forces are allowed to retaliate if attacked or if essential to protect the lives of innocent people, said Ministry of Home Affairs.
Yesterday terrorists fired upon a police vehicle, killing a Special Police Officer (SPO) at Pazalpora Arwani area of Bijbehara town in Anantnag district. In a separate incident, a grenade was also hurled at a police station. However, the grenade missed the target and exploded outside the station.
