Sriharikota, January 12: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Friday launched its 100th satellite Cartosat-2 Series along with 30 others in a single mission, from Sriharikota. As per details by ISRO, India's 100th satellite was placed successfully placed into sun-synchronous orbit and was set off on Friday morning. The mission is a unique one as the satellites are to be launched in two orbits according to scientists. The entire lift-off process along with the process of placing the satellites in two orbits is to take the satellite 2 hours and 21 minutes.
Congratulating ISRO on its magnificent feat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, “My heartiest congratulations to ISRO & its scientists on the successful launch of PSLV today. This success in the New Year will bring benefits of the country's rapid strides in space technology to our citizens, farmers, fishermen etc”.

President of India, Ram Nath Kovind tweeted his congratulatory message to ISRO. "Launch of India's 100th satellite Cartosat-2, along with two co-passenger satellites as well as 28 satellites of six friendly countries, is a moment of pride for every Indian. Congratulations to ISRO team of exceptional scientists. A milestone for our country", he said.

ISRO Chief Kiran Kumar congratulated his co-workers saying, “We are extremely happy to provide a New Year gift to the country with Cartosat 2 series and also a set of time all the customer satellites have been released and microsat will be released in an hours time after the launch vehicle brings the altitude back to 350 kilometres”. “So far the Cartosat performance has already been announced by the project head and is satisfactory and we will follow up on the remaining satellite performance. This year we have a number of activities planned. The next GSLV Mark 2 is already getting assembled and is scheduled for launch next month”, he added.

Randeep S Surjewala, member of Indian National Congress party praised ISRO for the new milestone and said, “Gratitude to India’s Space & Scientific community for crossing one more important milestone in their journey! ISRO Satellite Centre Director M Annadurai had recently said the launch of 28 satellites from abroad and three Indian satellites during the mission would mark the roll out of the 100th satellite by the space agency. As per PTI reports, the images sent by Cartosat-2 series satellite will be useful for cartographic applications, urban and rural applications, coastal land use and regulation, road network monitoring, water distribution, creation of land use maps and change detection to bring out geographical Land Information Systems and Geographical Information System applications.
