On August 1, the Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court decided to reserve Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. The Supreme Court said states can make Quotas within the Quota Judgment for reservation; state governments can make sub-categories for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories. What Remains Open and Closed Today?
Despite the call for Bandh, all government offices, banks, schools, colleges, and petrol stations are expected to remain open. Additionally, essential services such as healthcare, water supply, public transportation, railways, and electricity will likely remain operational today.
A high-level meeting was convened via video conferencing, bringing together divisional commissioners, district magistrates, and senior police officers. Western Uttar Pradesh has been identified as a particularly sensitive region and placed on high alert.
