New Delhi, May 4: To ease the process of ticket booking for all its passengers, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has recently launched a new method.  IRCTC, the e-ticketing arm of Indian Railways has come up with a new option wherein e-wallet users can book rail e-tickets including of Tatkal quota through IRCTC Rail Connect Android App.

Take a look at IRCTC’s Tatkal ticket booking rules:

  • Like earlier, AC Tatkal tickets booking will start from 10 am while the non-AC ticket booking will begin at 11 am.

  • It must be noted that an individual has to book the ticket a day before the travelling date.

  • The passenger can claim a complete refund of fare and Tatkal charges if a train is more than three hours late.

  • A passenger can claim a full refund if the train’s route is diverted and the passenger doesn’t want to travel on that route.

  • A passenger can claim a refund on Tatkal tickets if the train’s route is diverted and the boarding station/destination or both are not on the diverted route.

  • Full refund can be claimed by the passenger if he/she is accommodated in lower class and doesn’t wish to travel in the lower class and the passenger has paid the difference if he/she agrees to travel in the lower class.

Here’s how to get e-tickets via IRCTC e-wallet:

  • To avail all the facilities of IRCTC, a user first needs to register at IRCTC e-wallet facility through IRCTC website.

  • According to IRCTC, a user can have a maximum of six banks in his or her preference list.

  • It must be noted that passengers can book tickets by selecting IRCTC's e-wallet service while making payments.

The IRCTC, on April 5 introduced new rules of booking Tatkal tickets or tickets that are booked at the last minute by those who want to travel on an urgent basis. It must be noted that the IRCTC e-wallet is a mode of payment which enables users to deposit money in advance with IRCTC. Below we have explained the way to pay for e-tickets via IRCTC e-wallet.
