IPL 2018 Opening Ceremony & MI vs CSK Opener: Mumbai Police Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of First Match at Wankhede Stadium
As per the advisory issued by the Mumbai Police, traffic will remain affected at Marine Drive, Charni Road, Grant Road and Colaba between 5 pm to 12 am.
Mumbai, April 7: Ahead of the launch of Indian Premier League 2018 in Mumbai today, the city police issued a traffic advisory warning people against the possible congestion in the vicinity of Wankhede stadium, where Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener will be played after the IPL 2018 opening ceremony.
As per the advisory issued by the Mumbai Police, traffic will remain affected at Marine Drive, Charni Road, Grant Road and Colaba between 5 pm to 12 am. To mitigate the congestion level, the police has issued the following guidelines for motorists:
- The C, D and E sub-roads emanating from the junction with N S Road will be converted into one-way for all types of vehicles.
- The MK Road from Churchgate Junction to Anandilal Poddar Marg will remain one-way, along with the South-bound NS Road from Air India Junction to Mafatlal Bath Signal.
- Those attending the cricket match are highly recommended to use public transport for commutation viz. the Railways and BEST buses.
- Parking of vehicles is strictly prohibited on all roads mentioned above between 5 pm to 12 am.
- People using private vehicles are advised to use the pay and park facilities offered by the MCGM at CR2 Mall, Ballard Estate, NCPA Regal Junction and near the High Court.

The MI vs CSK match today is expected to witness massive footfall. All the tickets were sold out 10 days prior to the event. The minimum tickets were priced at Rs 800.
Traffic congestion is caused each year in Mumbai after high-profile IPL matches at either the Wankhede or the Brabourne stadium.
In a bid to avert the traffic inconvenience caused, MI matches in earlier editions of IPL were held at the Dr D Y Patil stadium in neighbouring Navi Mumbai.
