Vijayawada, March 28: Budget carrier IndiGo’s woes have further compounded with its aircraft facing too many glitches in the last few days. In a similar incident, IndiGo flight on Wednesday skid off the runway during landing in Vijayawada. The pilots of the flight grounded the Bengaluru-Vijaywada Indigo flight 6E-7204 after it skid off the runway.

Soon after the incident, IndiGo issued a statement saying, " IndiGo flight 6E-7204, VGA ATR 72-600, from Bangalore to Vijayawada experienced a skid during landing". "A skid on tail bumper is acceptable under ATR operational envelop. No maintenance was required & aircraft was cleared for operations after inspection", it added.

This year for IndiGo Airlines which is the largest in India by market share has not been very good. It has been in news for wrong reasons more often than not.

Plagued by an issue which has been troubling it since last year, the aviation regulatory authority DGCA grounded at least 11 Airbus' A320neo aircrafts this month which led to dozens of IndiGo flights being cancelled. As per reports, the aircrafts have been grounded because they use Pratt and Whitney engines, which have been found to be faulty.

Earlier this month, at least 186 passengers of an Ahmedabad-Lucknow IndiGo flight had a narrow escape after an engine snag forced the aircraft to land soon after take-off. SVPI director Manoj Gangal said, “There was a technical problem with engine number 2 because of which the flight had to head back to SVPI airport. All passengers are safe.”

In February, IndiGo announced seven new domestic flights. From May 1, two direct daily flights will operate on the Chennai-Mangalore-Chennai sector, it said.  “IndiGo will operate two direct daily flights on Hyderabad-Nagpur-Hyderabad sector, three direct daily flights on Hyderabad-Mangalore-Hyderabad sector from March 25, 2018,” the airline said in a statement. The airline said that these  flights will be operated on the brand new ATR 72-600 aircraft.
