New Delhi, June 27: Indian Railways has a special relation with the passengers. It won't be wrong to say that the two share a love-hate relationship. And none can live without the other. However, there is some good news for Indian Railways passengers courtesy the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). According to a report in the Indian Express, the Indian Railways is soon going to replace the woolen blankets it provides in  air-conditioned coaches and will provide nylon blankets in its place.

The decision to introduce the change came after the Indian Railways was shown the mirror by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). The regulatory body made it very clear that the woolen blankets and pillows the Indian Railways was providing to the passengers was really dirty and unclean. The Railways' has also been instructed to wash the blankets at regular intervals and with better frequency.

The order given by the regulatory body said that the blankets should be washed regularly and emphasized on cleanliness. “These blankets with revised specifications should be washed preferably twice a month subject to available capacity… In case of capacity constraints, washing should be done at least once a month. Life of the blankets with revised specifications and increased washing frequency is reduced initially to two years,” the order read. Hope the new order brings a positive change in the facilities  provided by the Indian Railways.
