Indian Railways App 'UTS on Mobile' For Same Day Train Ticket: Mumbai Gets UTS Counter at CSMT Station
The idea to introduce this app was to promote the cashless service of PM Modi -led BJP government.
Mumbai, June 18: Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani launched the new UTS counter at Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station(CSMT) on Monday. The counter will help passengers recharge their e-wallet on the 'UTS on Mobile' ticketing app.
Indian Railways, in a bid to emphasise on cashless service, had launched a mobile application UTS on Mobile, which gives an e-wallet option. The passengers can recharge the app wallet and book Unreserved Railway Tickets, along with platform and season tickets.
The app is free and can be downloaded by Android and windows mobile phone users. The app introduced by the railways will also help eliminate the necessity of carrying a physical ticket. "The passenger can travel without taking the hard copy of the ticket. Whenever ticket checking staff asks for a ticket, the passenger will use 'Show Ticket' option in the app," the railway statement said earlier.
The R-wallet can be recharged either at a UTS counter or by logging on to www.utsonmobile.indianrail.gov.in. However, the app cannot be used to make advance reservations; consequently, the date of the journey will always be the current date.
To use the app, one has to download it from the play store. Subsequently, the user first has to get registered by providing their mobile number, name, city, default booking train type, class, ticket type, number of passengers and frequently travelled routes. Upon successful registration, Railway Wallet (R-Wallet) will be created automatically with zero balance. There will be no extra cost for creating R-Wallet.
