Honeypreet’s Closest Aide 'Golo Mausi' Arrested in Connection With Panchkula Violence Case

Golu Mausi has been accused of the violence that erupted on 25th August last year after Dera chief Gurmeet Singh was convicted of raping two of his female followers.

Chandigarh, March 13: In a major setback to Honeypreet Insan, adopted daughter of convicted Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Haryana Police on Tuesday nabbed her aide who has been accused of inciting Dera violence last year. The Police has arrested a woman named Golo Mausi who is believed to be close to Honeypreet. The woman has been accused for the violence that erupted on 25th August last year after Dera chief Gurmeet Singh was convicted of raping two of his female followers.

As per reports, 'Golo Mausi' who hails from Rajasthan was absconding after the Panchkula violence. She had Rs 1 lakh bounty on her head. Soon after she went absconding, the Haryana Police had registered a case against her. 'Golo Mausi' and her nephew Gurdutt are also accused of making provocative speeches and provoking the Dera followers for violence. It must be noted that Gurdutt was arrested a few days ago.

On March 6, Honeypreet Insan was produced before a session court in Panchkula in connection with the Panchkula violence case. Honeypreet , also known as ‘Papa’s angel’, has been accused of inciting violence in Panchkula following the arrest of Dera Saccha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on August 25. The next hearing on the matter has been fixed for March 28, 2018.

To recall, Dera Saccha Sauda followers went on a rampage as they set buses on fire and destroyed public property after Gurmeet Ram Rahim was convicted last year in August. The 50-year-old Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who is lodged in the Sunaria Jail in Rohtak, had been sentenced to 20 years of imprisonment by the CBI court for the 2002 rapes of two of his disciples.

In wake of the deadly violence, photos of 43 persons on the ‘wanted’ list have been posted on the official web portal of Haryana Police.  Earlier, Haryana police had requested the general public and media to send videos or photographs of the violence that rocked Panchkula on August 25th.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim's conviction led to violence in Panchkula and Sirsa in Haryana, leaving 38 people dead and 264 injured. Isolated incidents of violence were also reported from Delhi and several other places in Punjab. Reports state that the violence soon spread in states of Haryana, Punjab and some parts of Uttar Pradesh.
