Shimla, May 2: In connection with the woman officer, who was shot dead in Himachal Pradesh, Supreme Court has taken suo moto cognizance of the incident and has rapped State Government for not providing adequate security to the woman official. The Apex Court also observed that it is very serious issue as the accused had allegedly killed the woman official in broad daylight and the police could not arrest him.
On Tuesday, a civic administration officer was shot dead today by the owner of a guesthouse in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district after she tried to demolish an illegal structure. According to reports, one of the labourers, who was accompanying the woman officer was also hit by a bullet. At the moment, he is recovering at a local hospital.
The deceased officer, Shail Bala was among a team of civic officers who were tasked with destroying illegal structures in 13 hotels and resorts in Solan. The reason behind this was the administration had found these structures unsafe for tourists.
According to a report on NDTV, as the officer was approaching towards the Narayani Guest House, the owner, Vijay Kumar allegedly fired some rounds in the air to scare the labourers who were coming to demolish the structure. A stray bullet hit Shail Bala, and the guest house owner has been missing from the scene since then. Police have announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh to anyone who can provide information about the accused.
The officers were doing their doing and were acting on the Supreme Court's April 17 directions to demolish illegal structures as there a lot of hotels that have been built illegally, just to make some extra money.
