Bengaluru, June 21: On the occasion of the 4th International Day of Yoga today, JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda performed Yoga at his residence earlier today. Even at the age of 86, the ex-PM, seven-time MLA and seven-time MP have out people in awe when it comes to doing tough physical exercises.
Reports inform that Gowda exercises regularly and has a full-fledged gym at his house in Bengaluru. In February 2017, Gowda had climbed up 1,300 steps under the 40-degree sun to have ‘darshan’ of Gommateshwara or Bahubali at Shravanabelagola.
In the last week, Gowda had said that the Karnataka Chamber of Commerce has invited him to inaugurate the Yoga day in Bengaluru on June 21. "I will inaugurate the event by performing Yoga, instead of making a speech. I am not trying to prove a point by doing this. I have been practising Yoga for long,” he told reporters.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed Yoga with over 50,000 yoga enthusiasts at the Forest Research Institute campus in Uttarakhand's Dehradun. While addressing the large gathering in the backdrop of the iconic British-era building of FRI, Modi said yoga has shown the world the way from "illness to wellness" and enriching lives across the globe.
"In Yoga, we have the perfect solution to the problems we face, either as individuals or in our society," the Prime Minister said. "Instead of dividing, Yoga unites. Instead of further animosity, Yoga assimilates. Instead of increasing suffering, Yoga heals," he said. Modi said Yoga presents a ray of hope for future of the world. "Yoga is beautiful because it is ancient yet modern, it is constant yet evolving," he said.
