Chandigarh, May 6: The schools of Haryana will remain closed on May 7 and May 8 (Monday and Tuesday) due to the thunderstorm and rain warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department on Sunday.
The weather department said heavy rains, along with gusty wind would blow over entire Haryana, parts of Delhi, Western Uttar Pradesh and six northeastern states on Monday, apart spells of shower with stormy winds near the southern coast of Kerala and Karnataka.
In view of the IMD's warning, Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma announced all public and private schools will remain dysfunctional over the next two days.

Weather department's warning for Monday:
Thunderstorm, along with heavy rains and gusty winds are expected in Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Haryana, Delhi, along with parts of Bihar, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
Stormy winds could also strike the southern coasts of Karnataka and Kerala, the Meteorological department said.
IMD's warning for Tuesday:
Parts of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi and western UP are expected to be struck by the thunderstorm on Tuesday as well. Heavy rains and gusty winds are predicted in the southern states of not only Kerala and Karnataka, but also Tamil Nadu.
The Home Ministry said it would be constantly monitoring the situation and take all possible measures to avert disasters. The storm which struck parts of Northern India earlier in the week left 124 dead and over 300 injured.
