Haryana, June 4: In just over a week's time, one more gruesome incident has been reported in Haryana. A five-year-old girl was raped and murdered in Haryana's Yamunanagar. The child's body was thrown into a drain reportedly.
Rajesh Kalia, a senior police officer of Yamunanagar, Haryana was quoted as saying, "There are injuries on her body, so we feel it is a case of sexual assault. We're taking the matter seriously. The investigation is underway." Moreover, the police have also detained four people from Khizrabad village, 220 kilometres from Gurugram, based on suspicion, and they are being interrogated.
In a similar incident earlier, a four-year-old girl in Haryana's Faridabad district was raped and stabbed to death. It was alleged that a man who used to work at the girl's father's sweet shop raped her. Her body was found stuffed inside a container at the home of the alleged killer. A medical test has confirmed rape. The 24-year-old accused has been arrested and questioned by the police.
According to news reports, in the Yamunanagar incident, the girl accompanied her father, a watchman, for fishing at a river on Sunday. Due to scorching heat, the father asked her to bring an umbrella from the house. Though the girl reached her house safely and then walked back holding the umbrella, she never reached her father by the river or returned home.
As the girl did not return, the worried father enquired about her whereabouts in the village and later in the evening filed a missing complaint, said the police. They added that after an overnight search, the body of the little girl was found in a drain near her house today.
