New Delhi, January 16: With an aim to give a major push to its online sales, yoga guru Baba Ramdev-led FMCG major Patanjali Ayurved on Tuesday announced its partnership with eight e-tailers to sell its Swadeshi goods online. With the latest move, Patanjali’s products will now be available on online websites, including- PayTM Mall, Big Basket, Flipkart, Grofers, Amazon, Shopclues among others.

While addressing media along with all e-commerce leaders, Baba Ramdev said that the online mechanism will help the Haridwar-based firm reach every household. As per reports, around Rs 50,000 crore production capacity will begin this year. Ramdev said that Patanjali has targeted production capacity of Rs 1 lakh crore by next year i.e. 2019.

During the meet, Ramdev said that Patanjali's online venture is capable of catering up to 10 lakh crore daily. He informed that Patanjali's online venture garnered a sale of Rs 10 crore in December 2017. During his address, Ramdev mentioned that Patanjali Paridhan (clothing range) will be launched either by Diwali this year or January next year whereas its plan to launch a restaurant chain has been postponed as of now.

Ramdev further added that he has no plans to enter into partnerships with any international company, as he doesn’t support the idea of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). “As far Patanjali is concerned, we will not enter into a partnership with any international company. If someone wants to give financial support we will welcome it. But we don’t support foreign direct investment,” Ramdev added.

Ramdev said Patanjali aims to provide convenient and efficient option along with the extension of the traditional retail market. “Utmost care has been taken to ensure (the) Swadeshi movement and it has been ensured that Patanjali products reach into every home without compromising on policies and business ethics,” he was quoted by ANI.

Meanwhile, Patanjali Ayurveda's Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Acharya Balkrishna said the new mechanism would help the company's products reach people who prefer to use online platform for shopping more these days. He added saying that the e-commerce websites have assured us that they will neither sell our products on discount or through any other offers. "It would reach those who do not have access to the point of purchase and they are looking for an alternate mechanism to shop and can get Patanjali products at home, and provide most efficient and convenient digital shopping experience," Balkrishna added.

To recall, Patanjali reported a turnover of Rs 10,500 crore in 2016-17 and now aims a two-fold growth this fiscal. Baba Ramdev said that Patanjali products will now reach 'From Haridwar to Har Dwar'.  He took to Twitter and said, "Great to see all the leading eCommerce honchos coming together for first time for a grand tie up Patanjali. Now all these platforms will make Patanjali's range of swadeshi products available to online buyers”.
