Bandipora, June 5: In another attack, terrorists hurled grenades on an army post and a police station at Hajin in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. The terrorists used under barrel grenade launchers (UBGLs) to attack the post and the police station.
Four to six terrorists were reported to have come from two sides of the army camp of 13 Rashtriya Rifles and Hajin police station. They fired around eight UBGLs towards the army and the police. "Army retaliated the terrorists' fire, and heavy exchanges are now going on in the area," reported NDTV quoting a police officer as saying.
The army post and the police station are reported to be safe. Security forces retaliated with heavy firing. The area has been cordoned-off, and combing operations have been started. Just a few hours before the attack, an IED blast in Sopore took place. An army vehicle was damaged in the attack. It was 40 kilometres from the area where the army post and police station were attacked.
Terrorist attacks have increased after the central government announced to suspend military operations in the Kashmir Valley during the holy month of Ramzan. Yesterday also, in a grenade attack in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir 16 people including four security personnel were killed. An unidentified person hurled a grenade at security personnel at Batapora Chownk.
