Jammu, June 22: A total of four terrorists, including the head of Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) have been gunned down by security forces in an encounter in Anantnag's Srigufwara area, Jammu and Kashmir. It must be noted that ISJK is a local terror group affiliated to the global terror group ISIS. Director General of Police (DGP) Shesh Paul Vaid in his tweet stated that the militants are reportedly affiliated to ISJK. Several civilians have also been injured during the encounter today, police said.
“Encounter at Khiram Srigufara on, two terrorists down, firing still continues. Unfortunate we lost one colleague of J&K Police,” Vaid informed in a tweet. The terrorists have been identified as Dawood Ahmad Sofi, Majid Manzoor Dar, Aadil Rehman Bhat & Mohammad Ashraf Itoo. Reports inform that incriminating material and a huge quantity of ammunition was seized from the encounter site.

A policeman has also been killed during the encounter between the terrorists and the security forces. Speaking to reporters in Srinagar, the DGP said that the encounter began early in the morning after information on the presence of three to four terrorists was received.
After receiving specific intelligence input about the presence of militants in the area, security forces have launched a cordon and search operation in Khiram in Srigufwara area of the south Kashmir district.
Police said that the search operation turned into a gunfight after the militants fired upon the forces, who retaliated. The clashes broke out near the encounter site as a group of youth started pelting stones on the forces who are engaged in the operation.
