Flight To & From Goa Delayed: Fault in Runway Lighting System at Dabolim Airport

As per reports, the Navy Technical Team is working on the fault. It must be noted that due to the issue, all the flights to and from Goa are delayed.

Panaji, June 9:  Goa's lone Dabolim airport has been shut till 10 PM on Saturday due to some issue in the lighting system at the runway. According to a recent tweet by ANI, the airport will not be available until 10 PM tonight due to fault in runway lighting system.

As per reports, the Navy Technical Team is working on the fault. It must be noted that due to the issue, all the flights to and from Goa are delayed.

Goa's lone airport at Dabolim operates from the naval base INS Hansa. The airport handles 5 million passengers annually but it is currently managing 6.9 million flyers.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Dabolim airport in Goa is set for expansion on the back of expected growth in the civil aviation sector through the tourist state will be getting a brand new aerodrome.

The proposed airport at Mopa in North Goa is likely to impact the traffic flow at Dabolim, but its operator the AAI said it will go ahead with expansion plans at the existing facility to cater to growing demand in the sector.
