New Delhi, April 13: In another fire accident that occurred in the national capital, four persons were killed and two others escaped injured, on Friday. A major fire broke out in the wee hours that saw four members of a family killed in Pitampura area in North-West Delhi. Early reports suggested that the reason for the fire breakout in the Kohat Enclave (incident spot) was ascertained to be a short circuit in the house.
The fire department confirmed the news, mentioning that it received information about the incident at 2.15 am, in the early hours of April 13. Eight fire tenders were rushed on the spot of the incident where the fire department officials rescued six people. The fire in the house was brought under control, an hour later.
The police officials said that the fire began from the first floor and in no time spread to the other three floors in the house. Everyone in the house was asleep when the fire in the house began. During the rescue operations, four bodies were recovered from two floors, as two other two were rescued alive.
There were five vehicles parked in the basement of the house which were also gutted in the fire. The rescued people were then rushed to the nearby Ambedkar Hospital. The two survivors, one of whom is a 90-year-old woman, were battling for life. Delhi Police officials have stated that an investigation has been launched into the Pitampura fire incident.
