Lucknow, April 19: In a recent incident which has come to the front, a father in his fifties has allegedly gifted his 35-year old daughter to his friends and later joined them to gang-rape her. Reportedly, the incident happened in Sitapur district, about 70 km away from Lucknow.  In November 2017, her father had been banished from the village following allegations of an incestuous relationship between the father and daughter.

One of the three accused in the crime was arrested on Tuesday, while the others are missing. According to a Times of India report, the accused along with the victim were visiting a fair in Kamlapur area on April 15. Post attending the fair, he called his friend Maan Singh to the spot. The men then convinced her to join them on a bike and took her to another friend's place named Meraj.

There the accused handed her over to the other men and all of them took turns to rape her. She was kept locked in Meraj's house for the next 18 hours and then finally managed to escape on Monday evening. While, the entire nation is protesting against the brutal rape cases that have come up, be it the Unnao, Kathua or the Surat rape and murder cases, but our question is- what next? Isn't it a big blot on the law and the order of the country?  A woman, be it an adult or a minor is not safe anywhere, be it her own home or outside. Such horrific incidents makes us lose faith in humanity.  We wonder, where are we heading to?
