Gorakhpur, June 10: Dr Kafeel Khan's brother Kashif Jamal was shot at by two unidentified bike-borne miscreants in Durgabadi. According to a recent tweet by ANI, Police investigation into the matter is underway. Dr Kafeel Khan has been accused in the Gorakhpur infant deaths case that took place in the BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.
He was released on bail last month, after he wrote a letter detailing the events that had unfolded in August 2017. Reports inform that in his letter, Khan had alleged that he had been made a scapegoat for what was a ‘total administrative failure at the higher level.’

According to reports, Dr Khan while speaking to media alleged that his brother had been fired at thrice and was currently admitted in a city hospital. As per initial reports, Kashif has sustained injuries on his arm, neck and chin. “I always said they would try to kill us”, he was quoted by The Quint.
On May 22, Dr Kafeel Khan, who was charged for the death of infants at the BRD Medical college in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh and was later granted bail by the Allahabad High Court, had offered to help the patients in Nipah virus hit state Kerela. Dr Kafeel, in a Facebook post had offered to serve at Kozhikode district in the wake of Nipah virus outbreak that had claimed the lives of several people and two nurses. The office of Kerela Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also welcomed him for service in Kerela.
