New Delhi, April 9:  The weather of Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR) transformed considerably on Monday morning after the national capital witnessed a cloudy and windy morning accompanied with rainfall. Rainfall lashed parts of the national capital, bringing respite from the heat. Areas including Moti Bagh, Noida, Delhi Cantonment area and India Gate received rainfall this morning along with strong winds.

According to an IMD press release, the Delhi-NCR is likely to witness thunderstorm and rains during the day. As per IMD, thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hail likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Monday i.e. April 9. Meanwhile, thunderstorm accompanied with squall likely at isolated places over Punjab and gusty winds likely at isolated places over Kerala, and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

Also, a feeble Western disturbance lies over north Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir and another Western Disturbance likely to affect Western Himalayan region till April 10.

As per reports by Skymet Weather, Delhi’s Safdarjung observatory recorded 5 mm of rains on Friday, meanwhile, Palam observatory registered 5.4 mm of rains. Ayanagar and Ridge observatory also recorded 8.9 mm and 2.4 mm of rains. On Tuesday, i.e. April 10, thunderstorm accompanied by squall and hail likely at isolated places over Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and north Uttar Pradesh. The release said that thunderstorm accompanied by stormy winds are likely to prevail at isolated places over Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi.

The report further adds that as the cyclonic circulation over northeast Rajasthan and adjoining Haryana has further moved westwards and lies over northwest Madhya Pradesh, the pre-Monsoon activities over Delhi and NCR would now reduce. However, a spell of rain and thundershower may prevail in some areas in the national capital.
