New Delhi, March 9: With the International Solar Alliance Summit just around the corner, some areas in the national capital are set to witness heavy congestion during the grand event. ISA is a treaty-based international body for the promotion of solar energy in alliance with 121 countries, which are fully or partially between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. The Heads of the states from 23 nations including France, Australia and Sri Lanka are believed to attend the first International Solar Alliance Summit on March 11 in New Delhi.

The mega event is being co-hosted by India and France to promote solar energy. The restrictions will mainly be in effect on Friday and Monday, the arrival and departure days for most VVIPs. The summit will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavans Cultural Centre. President Ram Nath Kovind will co-host the summit with French President Emmanuel Macron. It will focus on various aspects of promoting solar energy in 121 countries associated with International Solar Alliance (ISA) like credit mechanism, crowdfunding and sharing of technology breakthroughs.

The Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory saying that people- particularly students who are appearing for their board examinations should take traffic scenario into consideration and prepare accordingly. As per a report by Hindustan Times, central Delhi area is going to be worst hit. Also, stretches connecting it to the airport will witness heavy traffic during the four days. Central Delhi will be among the 40 roads where intermittent restrictions will be made for VVIPs who will grace the Summit.

Dependra Pathak, the Delhi Traffic Police chief was quoted by HT saying that a large gathering is expected at India Gate memorial between Friday and Sunday and it could result in heavy congestion of vehicles in the region. Meanwhile, the report further states that 40 routes in central Delhi that will be affected include the India Gate C-Hexagon, Shanti Path, Teen Murti Marg, Akbar Road, Sardar Patel Marg, Janpath and Ashoka Road.

The report further states that south Delhi will also witness heavy traffic as the stretch from RTR flyover to Dhaula Kuan, Thimayya Marg, Parade Road and Terminal -3 road will be restricted for movement of dignitaries.

As per PTI reports, several global bankers have confirmed their participation at the grand event including Werner Hoyer, President & Chairman, European Investment Bank, K V Kamath, President, BRICS Development Bank, Nandita Parshad, Managing Director, Energy & Natural Resources, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Banbang Susantono, Vice President, ASIAN Development Bank.
