Ghaziabad, April 23: Seven people were injured when an iron girder at a construction site of Delhi Metro crashed in Mohan Nagar, in Ghaziabad on Monday. A car and an auto-rickshaw were damaged in the incident. According to a report published in NDTV, a Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) said, "As per initial information, it appears that a steel girder which was erected for building the foot-over bridge at Mohan Nagar collapsed. Few injuries have been reported. However, we are verifying more details.”
Chief Project Manager and General Manager of DMRC took stock of the situation.The bridge was being built for the Dilshad Garden-New Bus Adda section of the Metro Network. The stretch of metro extension, which is over 9 km, is will have eight stations in Ghaziabad - Shaheed Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala, Hindon and the New Bus stand.
The Delhi Metro erected 200 girders within a month on one of its lines from Noida to Greater Noida. Due to this it has made to the Limca Book of Records.
