Delhi Chief Secretary Assault Case: Police Reviews CCTV Footage at Arvind Kejriwal's Residence, Questions Staff
Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has alleged that he was assaulted by AAP MLAs Amantullah Khan and others during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence.
New Delhi, February 23: Police on Friday arrived at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence to review CCTV visuals in connection with alleged assault of Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash case. Earlier this week, AAP legislator Prakash Jarwal was picked from his house at Deoli and detained. On February 21, AAP MLA Amanatullah surrendered at Jamia Nagar Police Station in connection with the same case. “I have not done anything wrong”, the accused was quoted by ANI. The recent development comes a day after Amanatullah refuted the charge that he had assaulted Delhi Chief Secretary during a meeting at CM Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
As per reports, Home Minister Rajnath Singh, after a meeting with the IAS Officers' Association and Anshu Prakash, asked Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for a report on the incident at Kejriwal's home.
To recall, Delhi Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash has alleged that he was assaulted by AAP MLAs Amantullah Khan and others during a meeting at the Chief Minister’s residence. An FIR was also registered by the Delhi Police against Khan and others on the basis of Prakash’s complaint. AS per earlier reports, Jarwal and Ajay Dutt, AAP MLAs from Deoli and Ambedkar Nagar respectively, had claimed the bureaucrat made casteist remarks. They have lodged a complaint against him with the Delhi Police and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes.
In his complaint, the Delhi Secretory said that he was called for a meeting on the release of a television advertisement and that he was assaulted, allegedly for not doing enough publicity for the government. As per the FIR, various sections including 120B (criminal conspiracy), 186 (obstructing a public servant from performing the duty), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 342, 504, 506(B), 120b, 34 and 353 (assault on public servant) of IPC have been slapped against the MLA.
According to a report by PTI, AAP Delhi unit’s chief spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj claimed that Jarwal was “arrested” based on a “frivolous” complaint. Reports state that the IAS Association, DANICS Association and DASS Association had come out in support of chief secretary following an alleged assault on him at chief minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence.
