CM BS Yeddyurappa Wants to Grant Loan Waiver to Farmers of Karnataka

BJP ridiculed Congress allegation over the formation of government in Karnataka. Yeddyurappa confidently remarked that he will prove the majority without any hurdle.

Mumbai, May 17: BS Yeddyurappa on Thursday made a come back as Chief Minister of Karnataka after almost six years. The newly appointed Chief Minister had claimed that once he comes to power, he will take steps to resolve farmers grievances across the state.

After the oath-taking ceremony on Thursday morning, Yeddyurappa held a press conference where he informed the reporters that he has instructed the state revenue secretary to find out the possibilities regarding farmers loan waiver. Reports inform that his government is planning to roll out minimum Rs one lakh as loan waiver, providing major relief to farmers. While he also asked the secretary to reply in 24 hours so as to provide immediate relief to the farmers who are in a state of despair and suffering from a financial break down due to crop failure and natural calamity.

Yeddyurappa also remarked that his party is working for farmers benefits. The reply has come following Rahul Gandhi's claim that BJP has remained anti-farmer during his speech in Chattisgarh. Farmers issue was the main issue raised by both BJP and Congress during their election campaign rallies held earlier. BJP in their manifesto also claimed that if they get the power in the state they will root-out the issue of farmers grievances completely, and provide maximum relief by bringing schemes benefitting farmers eventually. The BJP also alleged that Congress did not do anything for farmers though was ruling in the state for past many years.

After the elections results declared on Tuesday the southern region of India 'Karnataka' saw major political turmoil. Congress - JD(S) slammed BJP for manoeuvring and stated that their political agenda is killing the democracy. It further alleged BJP's move as a fraud tactic. Meanwhile, BJP ridiculed Congress allegation. Yeddyurappa confidently remarked that he will prove the majority without any hurdle. The claim has come, as State Governor Vajubhai Vala has given BJP 15 days time to prove their majority in the house
