Chennai- Bengaluru- Mysore Shatabdi Express To Show Movies: Air Conditioned Coach Manufacturing Begins
Under the Swarn project, coaches will be equipped with LED lights to aid reading. The coach will boast of facilities such as coach indication board and CCTV cameras at the entrance. Arrangements will be made for fragrance dispensers inside the toilets and compartments.
Chennai, February 10: The Indian Railways have some good news for the passengers of the Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru Shatabdi Express. From 10 February, Saturday onward, the express train will give its passengers the option of choosing from over 100 movies in various languages during travel.
Arrangements are in place for the work at the Basin Bridge coach care centre in Chennai and modification has already begun. The mechanical department has started modifying the regular air-conditioned chair car coaches. The Chennai-Bengaluru-Mysuru Shatabdi (12007 ), will have one such coach, which will be attached to it. The coach was showcased on Friday. Minister of Railway and coal, Government of India, Piyush Goyal tweeted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be visiting Mysuru and launching a Humsafar train which will connect the four states of India namely Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan with Karnataka.
Railway Officials said that Rs. 10 lakh was allocated for modifying each coach under Project Swarn. Modifications to existing coaches and even new modified coaches have been added to several trains under Project 'Swarn' started by the railway in November, 2017. Around 15 to 17 coaches of the Bengaluru Shatabdi and Coimbatore Shatabdi is expected to be modified one-by-one by May 2018.
Under the Swarn project, coaches will be equipped with LED lights to aid reading. The coach will boast of facilities such as coach indication board and CCTV cameras at the entrance. The interiors will also be revamped as it will have a refreshing look of vinyl wrapping at the entrance and above the luggage rack. Arrangements will be made for fragrance dispensers inside the toilets and compartments. One unique step by the railways for the visually- impaired passengers will be the introduction of Braille signage to denote coach numbers. This facility was long due in the Indian trains and its introduction in one of the express trains will augur well for the visually- impaired and challenged people.
