CBSE Paper Leak Case, KS Rana Suspended: Board Official Was Found Lax in Supervising Examination Centre

HRD Ministry Anil Swarup on Sunday announced that Board has suspended K S Rana, the official found lax in supervising examination centre (0859) with immediate effect.

New Delhi, April 1: In wake of the growing tension over CBSE paper leaks, Education secretary Anil Swarup on Sunday informed that a CBSE official has been suspended over laxity in supervising an examination centre. Swarup said that Board has suspended K S Rana, the official found lax in supervising examination centre (0859) with immediate effect.

The suspension order came after the instruction of HRD Minister Prakash Javdekar to take swift action against culprits.  Swarup said that a formal inquiry has been instituted in the matter.

Swarup informed that consequent to the arrest of 2 teachers from Mother Khajani Convent School, Mungeshpur, Delhi and a coaching institute Head, Tauquir by Delhi Police, a CBSE personnel, KS Rana was found lax in supervision.

Earlier in the day,  Police traced the Class 12 CBSE Economics paper leak to a private school, Mother Khazani Convent School, in northwest Delhi's Bawana. Reports state that the two teachers of the school opened the CBSE Class 12 economics papers some two hours before the exams, photographed it, and sent it to a third man.  Those arrested have been identified as Rishabh (29) and Rohit (26), teachers at a private school in Bawana, and Tauqeer, 26, a tutor at a private coaching centre there, the police said.

Earlier this week, the HRD Ministry announced that April 25 is the date of re-examination for Class 12 Economics paper. Education secretary Anil Swarup said the board will take a call in the next 15 days if there was a need to conduct retest for Class 10 Maths exam. The preliminary inquiry has revealed the Class 10 paper leak occurred in Haryana and Delhi-NCR, which is why re-exam will be held only in these two regions.

Scores of students held protests in the national capital since a week against the CBSE board papers being leaked. The students accused the board of negligence and demanding immediate action against the guilty.
