The work on the country’s first high-speed bullet train between Ahmedabad and Mumbai is on in full swing with the designing of bridges and tunnels progressing well. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe had laid the foundation stone for the proposed Ahmedabad-Mumbai High-Speed Rail Network, commonly known as the bullet train, on September 14, 2016 in the Gujarat city. The ambitious project is expected to be completed by 2022.
he much-awaited dream project of the high-speed rail of the Modi government to reduce travel time between metro cities drastically has so far been confined in the study stage and is yet to come on the drawing board. The high-speed train would cover the 500-km distance between the two cities in less than three hours, from the present seven hours.
As per reports, a sum of around Rs 1.10 lakh crore will be spent on the project that is being partially funded by Japan. The train will stop at each of the 12 railway stations on the route, but only for 165 seconds. A 21-km-long tunnel will be dug between Boisar and BKC in Mumbai, of which seven km will be under water
