Amravati, May 15: In another tragic incident today, 23 passengers are missing after a boat carrying 40 people capsized in Godavari River in Andhra Pradesh. According to news agency ANI, rescue teams have reached the spot. Seventeen people have been pulled out of the water.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa took stock of the situation. The chief minister spoke to East Godavari district officials over the phone.
A strong wind was said to be the main for the mishap. The boat was on its way to Rajamahendravaram from Kondamodalu when the tragedy struck. Ar per report of PTI 10 people swam to safety.
