Five people lost their lives after a boat capsized in river Ganga in Patna’s Fatuah. The boat was carrying more than 15 people and it has been declared that 5 persons died in the incident. The rescue operation is underway and it is expected that the count of casualty may rise as many went missing on the accident.

As per report in ANI, The Bihar government has announced Rs. 4 lakh compensation to the families of those who killed in the boat capsize incident in Patna's Fatuha. The injured has been shifted to a nearby hospital.

It seems that Bihar witnessed many boat capsized incidents in past years. On January 14, 2017 a boat was carrying more than 40 passengers capsized in Ganges in Patna, Bihar. The boat was returning from a kite-flying festival on an island called Ganga Diyara in the middle of the Ganga as part of the Makar Sankranti celebration in the city of Patna. 25 people lost their lives in that deadly incident. As per report it was said that the boat’s capacity was 30, but local officials placed the estimated rate as 40-50.
