BJP Legislator and Gujarat Speaker Rajendra Trivedi Calls Dalit Icon Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar & PM Modi 'Brahmin'
Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi has remarked that Dalit icon Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and PM Narendra Modi as Brahmins.
Gandhinagar, April 30: The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) has time again fallen on its face after its party members made abrupt statements without thinking of its repercussions. With a new controversy breaking in, Gujarat Assembly Speaker Rajendra Trivedi has remarked that Dalit icon Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and also PM Narendra Modi as 'Brahmins' by virtue of their knowledge.
Trivedi's controversial statement had received much flak from its own party members. According to the CNN News18 news report, North West MP Udit Raj slammed Trivedi and said,“The remark is unfounded, objectionable and undesirable. He (Trivedi) doesn’t realise that he is causing damage to the party with such statements."
Trivedi made the controversial statement at a job fair organised by the Samast Gujarat Brahma Samaj in Gandhinagar recently. Where he described Modi and Ambedkar as 'Brahmins' and Lord Krishna as an 'OBC'.
He added Brahmins as the “cream that settles on top of milk when it is boiled” and said anybody who is “learned” is a Brahmin.
A similar embarrassing statement was made last month by Tripura CM and BJP legislator, Biplab Kumar Deb. Deb stated that internet and satellite communication existed since Mahabharat era. He also further asked the youths to set up paan shops instead of running behind political parties to seek government jobs. He has now been summoned by BJP to be present before PM Modi and Party President Amit Shah for an explanation regarding same.
