New Delhi, May 25: In the latest development, President Ram Nath Kovind has appointed new governors for Odisha and Mizoram. Kummanam Rajasekharan will be taking over as a governor of Mizoram, whereas Professor Ganeshi Lal will be the governor of Odisha. Both the governors belong to the BJP.

On 21st March 2018, Satya Pal Malik who is the governor of Bihar was given an additional charge to serve as the governor of Odisha. Lt Gen (Retd.) Nirbhay Sharma PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, VSM is the current Governor of Mizoram and former Governor of Arunachal Pradesh.

Brief Intro of Rajasekharan and Ganeshi Lal:

Kummanam Rajasekharan is currently the president of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Kerala unit. He was appointed the president of the BJP unit on 18 December 2015. He started his career as an activist of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Sangh Parivar in 1970. In 1987, Rajasekharan resigned from government service to become a full-time Sangh Parivar worker. He played an instrumental role in spearheading Kerala's Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP).In 2011, he was appointed as chairman of the Janmabhumi daily newspaper.

Professor Ganeshi Lal is currently the head of the national disciplinary committee of the BJP. He belonged to Haryana. Lal was one of the BJP’s contenders for the vacant Rajya Sabha seat of Sirsa along with Ramchandra Jangda.
