Bihar Shelter Home Horror Continues: CBI Files FIR in 2 More Muzaffarpur-Like Sexual Abuse Cases
The apex court had shifted the Muzaffarpur shelter home case probe from the Bihar government to CBI in November last year.
Patna, January 16: In the latest development in shelter home case, Central Bureau of Investigation registered two fresh FIRs in connection with physical and sexual abuse of children in shelter homes in Bihar on Wednesday. The apex court had shifted the probe from the Bihar government to CBI in November last year.
The central probing agency filed the FIR against the Director of Samaj Samiti Boys’ Children Home in Bhagalpur and DORD Children Home in Gaya for allegedly physically assaulting the inmates. According to the statement, the officials involved in running these shelter homes are under CBI probe. CBI Arrests Another Accused in Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Case.
The FIRs are in line with the alleged abuse of minor girls at a shelter home run by journalist Brajesh Pathak in Muzaffarpur in Bihar, which created a nation-wide outrage last year.
Earlier in 2018, the central probing agency CBI special public prosecutor (SSP) K Raghavacharyulu had informed the Supreme Court that the agency was ready to take over the probe after a bench of justices had enquired if the CBI counsel was willing. All the accused in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case was chargesheet by the CBI under the POCSO Act in December last year. Also, the Enforcement Directorate had summoned Brajesh Pathak’s kin to inquire about the case.
The case came into limelight after Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) report mentioned ‘grave concerns’ issues related to 17 shelter homes out of which the agency was already investigating the Muzaffarpur shelter home case.
