Bihar, January 10:  Four bogies and an engine of Patna-Mokama MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train were engulfed in flames on Wednesday morning. The flames were later doused and no casualties or injuries have been reported. As per reports, the fire broke out in one of the bogies on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday. The passenger train was stationed at the Mokama railway station when the incident took place.

Reports state that the fire broke out around 1 am when railway staffers at the station spotted one of the bogies going up in flames and spread and engulfed four other bogies along with the engine. Reports further inform that as soon as the Railways employees and local GRP and RPF spotted the fire in of th bogies, they rushed to the spot to douse the fire but it didn’t help at all.The fire died only after it completely gutted the bogies and engine.

Rajesh Kumar, East Central Railway spokesperson confirmed on Wednesday morning that a total of four coaches of the Patna-Mokama MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train were gutted in a mid-night fire on Wednesday.  "Patna-Mokama MEMU Passenger train reached Mokama on Tuesday night at 11 pm in Patna. It was stationed in the railway yard of Mokama Station. Suddenly, flames were spotted in two bogies at 1 am on Wednesday. An attempt was made to extinguish the fire, but it engulfed two more coaches," the CPRO said.
