Rohtas, January 10: One person has been killed and at least five others have been injured in a stampede during Army recruitment drive in Rohtas district of Bihar. The injured were rushed to the Rohtas Government Hospital for medical treatment. Reports state that the recruitment drive has been going on for the last five days at the BMP ground in Dehri-on-Sone area of the district.
During the recruitment camp, scores of aspirants were present and were asked to stand in the queue early on Wednesday. As per reports, a stampede took place after the police is said to have resorted to lathi-charge on them. According to reports, the deceased is believed to be from Gaya district. The identity of the deceased has not been ascertained yet.

Police said that the youth's body had been sent for autopsy. Further investigation is on, sources added. The four members who have been injured in the stampede include Shyamnandan Kumar, Manish Kumar, Dharmendra Kumar, Devdut Kumar. Rohtas civil surgeon Nawal Kishore Prasad Singh said, “All the injured persons are being treated and out of danger”.
Earlier today, four bogies of a stationary train were gutted in a fire in Mokama, about 100 kilometres from Patna. There were no casualties reported. As per reports, the empty rake of Danapur-Mokama MEMU train had caught fire shortly after midnight on Wednesday. A total of four coaches were affected in the fire as the remaining 12 bogies were separated by the railway staff, chief public relations officer (CPRO) of the East Central Railway (ECR) Rajesh Kumar said.
