New Delhi, April 9: Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an advisory to all state governments to take precautionary measures in view of call for Bharat Bandh on April 10 by several groups on social media. Some groups gives a shutdown call to protest against caste based reservations in jobs and education. The groups will also protest against the violence that was witnessed during the April 2 Bharat Bandh called by dalit groups against the Supreme Court’s verdict on SC/ST Act which prevent immediate arrest without verification. Dalit groups consider this verdict will dilute the SC/ST Act.

The Times of India reported that ‘Sarv Samaj’, a grouping of different caste groups like Jats, Gujjars, Brahmins and Rajputs, has given the call for tomorrow’s bandh.  Sarv Samaj also forms ‘Bharat Bandh Sangharsh Samiti’ for the bandh. Bhim Singh from the group said their call is not against a particular community but against the violence witnessed on April 2. The violence which erupted during the Bharat Bandh on April 2 claimed 10 lives and hundreds of people were injured during the clashes. Protesters blocked trains, public and private property was burnt. Thousands of people were arrested during the April 2 Bharat Bandh.

MHA had also issued similar kind of advisory before the April 2 Bharat Bandh. The Supreme Court during the hearing of a plea filed by the centre government refused to reverse its order which prohibits immediate arrests under SC/ST Act.
