Mumbai, May 27: By-elections will be held in Maharashtra's Bhandara-Gondia and Palus-Kadegaon seats tomorrow, along with the high-stake bypoll in Palghar. The fact-sheet below lists the date of results, past winners, reason for by-election and other details related to Bhandara-Gondia and Palus-Kadegaon. Bhandara-Gondia Lok Sabha By-Elections 2018

Date of voting & results: The polls will be held tomorrow, May 28, between 8 am to 5 pm. The counting of votes is slated to begin on 8 am on Thursday, May 31.

Last result: The past winner from the constituency is Nana Patole, who wrested the seat from NCP's Praful Patel in 2014 on the BJP ticket.

Reason for bypoll: The seat fall vacant after Patole resigned as the member of parliament in October 2017, citing the alleged anti-farmer policies of the Narendra Modi government.

Candidates in fray: The BJP has fielded Hemant Patle, a former MLA. He is being challenged by NCP leader Madhukar Kukde, who has been backed by the Congress, RPI, CPI and Shiv Sena.

Palus-Kadegaon Assembly Bypolls 2018

Date of voting & results: The polls will be held on Monday at all the earmarked voting booths, between 8 am to 5 pm. The Election Commission is scheduled to declare the results on Thursday, May 31.

Last result: The last winner from the constituency is Patangrao Kadam, who has represented the seat on seven occasions.

Reason for bypoll: Kadam died on March 9 after reeling under illness. His desmie necessitated the by-election.

Candidates in fray: The BJP has fielded Sangramsinh Deshmukh, president of Sangli zilla parishad and deputy chairman of Sangli district cooperative bank, as its candidate. The Congress has given the ticket to Vishwajeet Kadam, the son of Patangrao Kadam. The Shiv Sena has backed his candidature..

The bypoll results are awaited by pollsters as it would signal the electoral mood of Maharashtra ahead of 2019 - when the state would not only elect lawmakers to the parliament, but also vote for a new legislative assembly.
