New Delhi, January 29: The four-day Republic Day 2019 celebrations will conclude with the Beating Retreat ceremony on Tuesday at Raisina Hill near India Gate. The ceremony is expected to begin at 4 pm and continue until around 6:30 pm. The government buildings at Vijay Chowk have been lit in the wake of Beating The Retreat. The Delhi Police have, meanwhile, issued a traffic advisory and certain restrictions have also been put on the Delhi Metro. Beating The Retreat Ceremony Tomorrow to End Republic Day 2019 Celebrations; Delhi's Vijay Chowk, Raisina Hills Lit Up.

As per the Delhi Traffic Police advisory, Vijay Chowk will remain closed between 3:30 pm and 9:30 pm today. There will also be restrictions on Rafi Marg and Raisina Road during the same time. Meanwhile, certain DTC buses will also be rerouted from 1 pm to 9:30 pm today. Entry into and exit from the Udyog Bhawan and Central Secretariat Metro Stations will remain shut from 2 pm to 6:30 pm.

The Beating Retreat procession will begin from the Vijay Chowk in the national capital, and culminate at the Raisina Hills, which houses Parliament.

This time Indian compositions are set to dominate the Beating the Retreat ceremony as 19 of a total of 27 musical performances will be local tunes. The tunes will enthral the spectators with captivating and foot-tapping music of the bands from the Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the state police and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF),” the Defence Ministry said in a release.

“Out of the 27 performances, 19 tunes have been composed by Indian musicians, which are ‘Indian Star’, ‘Paharon ki Rani’, ‘Kumaoni Geet’, ‘Jai Janam Bhumi’, ‘Queen of Satpura’, ‘Marooni’, ‘Vijay’, ‘Soldier-My Valentine’, ‘Bhupal’, ‘Vijay Bharat’, ‘Aakash Ganga’, ‘Gangotri’, ‘Namaste India’, ‘Samudrika’, ‘Jai Bharat’, ‘Young India’, ‘Veerta Ki Misal’, ‘Amar Senani’ and ‘Bhumiputra’,” it further added.

This year, 15 Military Bands, 15 Pipes and drum bands from Regimental Centres and Battalions are participating in the ceremony. One band each from the Navy and the Air Force will also be part of the event. Another band of the State Police and CAPF comprising the Central Industrial Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force and Delhi Police will also take part in the ceremony.
