New Delhi, December 15: Bank customerss have to face inconvenience as banks across the country will be shut for five days between December 21 and 26 due to strike for two days and Christmas holiday. Ahead of the New Year 2019, ATMs may also run out of cash. The services at bank branches will be unavailable from December 21 to December 26, except for December 24, Monday when banks will be operational.

Banking services will be affected due to two separate strikes called by the All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) on December 21 and the United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU), the umbrella unit for nine bank associations including AIBOC, on December 26. While AIBOC called for a protest against Indian Banks' Associations move to leave officers in scale IV and above out of the bipartite wage settlement ambit, the UFBU will be going on bank strike against issues ranging from wage settlement and bank mergers. Rs 200, Rs 500, Rs 2000 Indian Bank Notes Banned Here, Only Rs 100 Currency Valid.

Besides, banks will be closed on December 22 which is the fourth Saturday of the month, December 23, which is Sunday, and December 25 - a national holiday for Christmas. People will be able to visit bank branches on December 24. If the two strikes take place, banking services, mainly offline, will be severely hit. People won't be able to withdraw money from branches and ATMs will be the only option left.

As bank employees will be at home due to strike and holidays, ATMs, too, are likely to run dry during the period. It will be better you withdraw enough cash for shopping and other use before December 21 or else bank strikes and holidays may ruin your weekends.
