Mumbai, September 30: Banks across the country will remain closed for business for 15 days in October. This follows similar closures in September 2024. October, the 10th month of the year, will witness bank closures due to festivals and national events. Additionally, banks will remain closed on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.

It must be noted that major festivals like Dussehra, Diwali, Durga Puja, Navratri, etc., will lead to the closures of banks in various regions. While banks will remain shut for 15 days, bank holidays across the country vary from state to state. List of Bank Holidays in October 2024

  • October 1: Banks will remain closed in Jammu and Kashmir due to assembly elections in the Union Territory.
  • October 2: Banking services across the country will remain closed for Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti. Mahalaya Amavasye will also be observed in a few regions on this day.
  • October 3: Banks will stay shut in Rajasthan for Navratra Sthapna, while a few states will observe Shardiya Navratri and Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti.
  • October 6: Banks across India will remain closed as October 6 is a Sunday.
  • October 10: Banking services will be closed for the day in Agartala, Guwahati, Kohima, and West Bengal for Durga Puja and Dussehra (Maha Saptami).
  • October 11: Banks will remain closed for business due to Dussehra (Mahashtami/Mahanavami)/ Ayudha Pooja/Durga Puja (Dasain) or Durga Ashtami.

  • October 17: Banks will stay shut at a few places across the country on account of Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti and Kati Bihu.
  • October 20: Banks will stay shut nationwide as October 20 is a Sunday.
  • October 26: Banking services will be affected in Jammu and Kashmir on Accession Day and nationwide on the fourth Saturday of the month.
  • October 27: As it's a Sunday, banks will remain closed across the country.
